Assessment of caregiver overload – zarit test


To measure the degree of subjective overload of caregivers of elderly people afflicted with mental disorders.

Objective:

To determine the degree of caregiver overload.

Equipment:

Caregiver overload rating scale .Zarit test.

Material:

– Nursing records.

Procedure:

– Preserve the privacy of the caregiver. – Inform the caregiver – Request the caregiver’s cooperation.

Observations:

Consists of 22 items related to the caregiver’s feelings when caring for another person, each of which is scored on a frequency gradient ranging from 1 (never) to 5 (almost always). Self-administered. – Interpretation: – <47: No overload. – 47 to 55: Slight overload – >55: Severe overload – Reassessment: When the patient’s situation changes or the appearance of caregiver overload is suspected.
