Moving the patient from the bed to another bed or stretcher


Set of activities to mobilize the bedridden patient who is unable to move on their own.

Objective:

To move the patient to another bed or stretcher for transport to scans, tests and transfer to another unit or hospital, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Equipment:

– Sheets. – Pillows. – Stretcher or bed.

Material:

– Non-sterile gloves. – Nursing records

Procedure:

– Follow general rules in mobilizing the patient. 4 people: – Place the bed or stretcher next to the patient’s bed. – Place the bed in a horizontal position, making sure it is restrained. – Remove the bedclothes covering the patient. – Place 2 people next to the patient’s bed and 2 people next to the stretcher or bed. – Roll the ends of the sheet under the patient as close to the patient as possible. – At the agreed signal, lift the patient slightly while moving to the stretcher or bed. – Leave the patient in a comfortable position and cover the patient. 3 people: – Place one person at the head, one at the foot and one at the side of the stretcher or bed. – Place the patient’s hands crossed over the chest and feet crossed. – Grasp the patient under the armpits and hold the patient by the wrists, feet, back and buttocks. – At the agreed signal, lift and move the patient to the stretcher. – Leave the patient in a comfortable position and covered.
