Cleaning, restocking, and maintenance of the dressing cart used by the nurse for dressings.
Objective:
To make it easier for the nurse to perform dressings.
Equipment:
– Cure cart or tray. – Sterile drapes. – Cloth and drying cloth. – Dressing equipment: tweezers with teeth, without teeth, sterile scissors, mosquito, scalpel, Kocher forceps. – Compression forceps.
Material:
– Soapy detergent. – Surface disinfectant. – Waste bag. – Clean non-sterile gloves. – Sterile gauze. – Sterile compresses – Physiological saline solution. – Antiseptic solution. – Hypoallergenic plaster. – Cannulas. – Approximation points. – Transparent fixation dressings. – Three-step wrenches with extension. – Sterile IV plugs. – Compressor. – Small container for sharps. – Ointments or creams. – Fatty tissue. – Hemostatic gauze. – Scalpel blades. – Silk. – IV, SC, IM needles. – Syringes of 5cc, 10cc. 20cc. – Border gauze. – Local anesthetic. – Swabs. – Bandages. – Dressings for ulcer treatment. – Soakers. – Sterile gloves. – Masks. – Nursing records.
Procedure:
– Remove all materials and containers on the cart in the treatment room. – Move the cart to the place intended for cleaning. – Clean the surface of the cart (trays, wheels, etc.) with disinfectant detergent.
– Rinse and dry with a clean cloth. – Allow to dry. – Place an interliner or cloth on the surface of the cart. – Place all the material. – Cover with a cover when not in use. – Monitor bottles of antiseptics, ointments, and creams to make sure they are capped and clean. – Record on the cleaning and revision control sheet of the treatment cart any anomaly observed in the repositioning and cleaning of the cart, in the observations section. – The auxiliary personnel in charge of replacing and cleaning the cart should sign each time the cart is replaced and cleaned.
Observations:
Cleaning of the cart shall be performed every 24-48 hours and replenishment each time it is used.
